#ShareYourHashtags: Thanks Adrianne Machina!

The Partner Channel Magazine Fall 2014 Issue is on the way to your desks and is all about the hashtag. Fellow Partner community members have shared their hashtag thoughts with us to get the excitement started. The stories below are from our friend, Adrianne Machina at Tornado Marketing– thanks for sharing!

Well, it sure pays to know how to use social media – especially if your aim to embarrass your teenage daughter.  Took the kids out to the #badgers game – (UW-Madison Football). They announced on the jumbotron that if you posted a twitter picture with the hashtag #badgers, you too may be selected out of the 70,000 fans at the stadium to be shown on the big screen. Done and DONE!

Adrianne Daughter

This weekend I’m heading to #Detroit to see #OPRAH!!! Using hashtags helps me find all the friends I didn’t even know were going to be there!

A few months ago, I posted something about #ATL. The result was I got to meet an old friend who’d moved across the country in the Atlanta airport!

I use hashtags to connect to the world around me – especially events!  Last year, I went to an event where I knew absolutely NO ONE. By using the conf hashtag, I was able to connect with 3 people that I could look forward to meeting for cocktails.

The hashtags I follow / search change on a regular basis. Depends what I’m reading, where I’m going, the teams I’m cheering on and the topics I’m researching.  But what I love about hashtags is that you can create a search column in TweetDeck (or HootSuite) and get a whole bunch of perspectives on that topic area.
