February 25, 2016:  Professional services consulting firms now have access to a new pre-configured, cloud-based software solution designed specifically for their industry. Stoneridge Software created a solution unique to consulting firms that recently launched with the new version of Microsoft Dynamics AX. Aptly named PROPEL AX for Professional Services, this software solution allows consulting companies such as engineers, architects, construction and IT consulting firms to implement much faster with pre-configured settings based on common industry needs like timecards, expenses, commissions and project invoicing. February 9, 2016:  Daphne Dahl has joined the team at DFC Consultants as a Business Solution Consultant, assisting customers with software installation, training and support. She has worked with Microsoft Dynamics GP for 14 years, with a special interest in the Inventory and Sales Order Processing functionality. She previously worked as a purchasing and inventory manager. She is based out of the Fargo, ND office.

February 9, 2016:  DynamicPoint releases a new Billable Expenses feature in the Expense Management application. This feature takes expense reimbursement to a whole new level by allowing employees to tag expenses items on the report to be billed back to the customer. Upon approval of the expense report the application may be configured to integrate with Project Accounting for Dynamics GP, Jobs within Dynamics NAV or simply for the creation of a sales invoice in Dynamics to ensure billable expenses are charged to the appropriate customer. February 8, 2016:  Thomson Reuters announced the release of Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Integration for Microsoft Dynamics AX. January 13, 2016:  The digital revolution is forcing more and more organizations to rethink and reengineer their old paper-based workflows. To help deal with that challenge, Laserfiche, is launching Laserfiche 10.

The revamped version of the ECM software includes a business process library with nearly 100 ready-made solution templates – which range from key business functions, such as accounting and HR, to industry-specific solutions, such as construction services, education, finance, government and healthcare.

This summer is gearing up to be a busy one for us with a lot of long-term projects and upgrades. We close a lot of deals by the end of June because of Microsoft’s promotions, so the summer fills up with those new projects. We’re also focusing on connecting with other Partners to help them expand their business by utilizing DFC Consultants as their personal WennSoft expert. As a WennSoft Executive Partner, we currently work with other VARs across the country but we know there are many more who are looking for an expert who can offer them assistance in a timely fashion.

For k-eCommerce, the summer months are slower for us in terms of company travel and shows, but that doesn’t mean we like to sit still. We use the summer for team bonding and preparation. We like to have summer lunchtime cookouts for the entire office. It gives us a chance to catch up on what everyone is working on, while enjoying the nice weather. We also like to participate in events like company golf. Since it is a slower time for k-eCommerce, many of the employees save the summer to take their vacations. We also use this time as a transitional period between a very busy Q1/Q2 and getting ready for fall travel and a jammed pack schedule in Q4.

The vacations over the summer are what tend to slow business.  There is no lack of interest, however a services-based company requires that people be present on the client side to perform the service and on our side to deliver the service.  Most of our team takes vacations over the summer and in November; these are the months that get hit the hardest.  In our business, November and December are the slowest period due to holidays coming right on the heels of vacations related to hunting season.




Workplace 2.0: The New Reality

It’s not about workspaces, hierarchy, benefits, pay, vacation time, promotions, or even titles anymore. The new workplace is different; however, different doesn’t mean deficient. Think about it – the world of work has access to more information 24/7, more diversity, more technology, more college graduates, more flexibility to work virtually, more generations in the workplaces, global span and local depth, broad and viral communication channels like social media, tele-presence workers, green and sustainability expectations (it’s no longer an option in most cases), highly educated customers, shifting healthcare needs and provisions, different buying habits and patterns (for heaven’s sake, more cars are bought on than at the local car dealer), on-demand TV (commercials are a thing of yesterday), on-demand information (who reads the paper…when you want information, you get it, you don’t let someone else determine it), and employees that are just not like they used to be or maybe just have a different way of thinking about their role in your company. With all that opportunity, how does a company successfully drive company performance, exceed customer expectations, and create a satisfied and engaged workforce?
