Those of you who have been around since the good ol’ Great Plains days have experienced firsthand how different two company cultures can be.
Under the leadership of Doug Burgum (now Governor of North Dakota), the culture at Great Plains was community-minded…and a little quirky. Leadership fostered an environment where employees and Partners all felt part of the team. That culture permeated throughout Great Plains – from job roles to events like Stampede. And who can forget Doug’s Q&As? You never knew what Doug might talk about – bee colonies, Lewis and Clark, or what it’s like to hitchhike in Alaska – but you knew that as much as the story might twist and wander, it always came back to a central theme of community and a shared mission.

Research will tell you that if leaders don’t lead culture, it will lead them. Culture exists whether you want to focus on it or not as a leader. One leader in a major hospital said, “Our culture is fine; it’s the numbers we need to address.” Another leader in a non-profit said, “Our numbers are fine; it’s the culture we need to focus on.” Who’s right? Both; however, Tom Peters would say, “Culture trumps strategy, every time.” On the other hand, another leader in technology said, “If I just fix culture, my problems will dissipate.” It’s like when you hear people say that “winning the lottery” will fix all their problems or losing that 50 pounds will save their marriage.

DALE HAINES, Marketing Manager at ImageTag (www.kwiktag.com)
Socrates
Because I believe as he did, you must question and examine what you know as if you know nothing in search of truth and what is right.

DAVID GERSTEN, VP of Sales and Marketing at Bond Consulting (www.bondconsultingservices.com)
Elon Musk
Because he is not only an Entrepreneur but he is also an engineer, investor, and inventor. I add the concept of Futurist too. His forward-thinking about technology advancements are to align the rest of others. Others may fail and give up. Elon Musk may fail but he never gives up. Making the world a better place for the next people is a very humbling position to be in.

LAURIE JOHNSON, Sr. Marketing Communications Specialist at JetReports (www.jetreports.com)
Carl Sagan
Because he brought honest, scientific answers to complex questions. More importantly, he found a way to communicate and connect with people and by doing so, was able to challenge preexisting thoughts and beliefs through factual data. He wasn’t afraid to admit what he didn’t know and remained curious and open to the world around him all while sharing his knowledge. Sagan said in his last interview that “Science is more than a body of knowledge. It’s a way of thinking, a way of skeptically interrogating the universe with a fine understanding of human fallibility.” I hope that after attending this course I can share my newly found knowledge with anyone who is interested.

SHAWNA SHARMA, Marketing Manager at Qixas Group (www.qixas.com)
Steve Jobs
He was a leader and a visionary who had an idea and kept working on it despite being faced with a lot of criticism and failures. I think the drive and passion he had was admirable. He has changed the way various industries work. For example, Music, Entertainment, Telecommunications, IT. Because of his inventions, humans have transformed their behavior. The way we engage with each other, the way we communicate, the way we work and even the way we think and live.

I’ll admit it. The first time I heard “Dynasource” come up in a session, I thought the presenter was saying “Dinosaurs”. She was speaking quickly, and I was a little tired, so hearing “Dinosaurs” had me wondering if it A) was a new R&D naming convention, B) I’d finally lost it, or C) it referred to aging products.
Turns out it was none of the above.
Think of Dynasource as the Airbnb for professional services. You can visit dynasource.com and search for professionals to work on your clients’ projects, list yourself as a free agent for upcoming projects, or offer up your employees and their capabilities as a match for fellow Partners’ needs.
