The Day Has Come: Social Media Ranks Supreme

By Bethany Foyt

I knew there would come a time that social media would contribute to high referral web traffic, but I just didn’t realize it would be so drastic. In 2016, social media accounted for double the amount of traffic than in 2015.

What happened in the past year for our business to see such a major swing? You could say we’re posting more content, creating more value, and connecting with more like-minded people. All of that, I would say is true, but I think a few more things come into play.

A “Little Mark” on The Microsoft Dynamics Community

Nicole Helm

By Nicole Helm, Rockton Software

When Bethany asked those in The Genius Series to write this essay, I had such a hard time to think about how to write about my journey as a marketer. I’d like to say I knew I wanted to have a career in marketing when I was in college, but that wasn’t the case. I was going to school to be a teacher, thinking I wanted to teach English as a second language.

Then, when I graduated, I was 20 years old, and Rockton Software hired me to solely do their social media. I’ve morphed into managing the majority of the marketing here. It’s been a whirlwind of learning. I can still say I’m learning to this day, every day, and even more this year, thanks to The Genius Series.

What’s My Company’s Story?

By Bethany Foyt

By Aynsley Keller

Marketing seems to get reinvented and redefined more than any other business focus. I know you’re thinking “spoken like a true marketer”. Just hear me out. My experience is minimal in comparison to those veterans of marketing who seem to have all the answers and remember the days before the internet and back when a direct mail campaign could get you exponential ROI. I have, however, been around long enough to witness not one shift, but many shifts in messaging trends and email do’s and don’ts’ and search engine ‘optimization’ or whatever the new term they call it is.

Memorable and Shareworthy Marketing Content

By Bethany Foyt

This infographic and blog from Hubspot touches on very important stats that showcase the difficulty in making your marketing content memorable and shareworthy. As the blog article states, “Memorable promotional emails are a dime a dozen- and yet, how memorable an email is correlates strongly with whether or not recipients forward it to others or share it with their social networks.”

We are covering this exact topic at PreGAME to Summit in Reno tomorrow morning at our session, Marketing to the Online Attention Threshold. Our panelists, Jon Rivers and Brooke Webb, will offer up tips on how they have created memorable and shareworthy marketing content. This session will look at tried and true methods of providing value while considering the attention that Customers (and fellow Partners) are both willing and able to provide. Join us Tuesday at 10:00 AM PST in Reno at PreGAME for this session. You won’t want to miss it!

SEO: DIY or N-O-T?

By Peter Joeckel

This Throwback Thursday article is from the Spring 2014 issue of The Partner Channel Magazine. Catch the most current issue for more great sales, marketing, and leadership tips!

VAR marketing: DIY (do it yourself) or ship it out? That is the question of the day. For everyone with the attention span of a rooster on crack, the Twitter answer is ship it out unless you have a lot of money or can afford to hire Anya C (if you have to ask…retire now).

For everyone else, I think the question is not one of DIY versus shipping it out, but rather this: Can you afford to market your business effectively on the web? Or are you just wasting money like back in the trade show days where you attended just because not being there seemed to be worse than the fact that they generated no business.

Feeding the Content Machine: When You Think You Have Nothing to Write About

By Anya Ciecierski

Although this new age of content marketing suits me very well, there are still times when I long for the good old days of direct mail when I could drop the letters in the mailbox and have the satisfaction that the job was “done”.  Now, if I post on one blog, I could post on three more. If I send five tweets, I could send 10 more.  The demand for fresh, new content is never-ending. It is like a hungry content machine that is never satisfied.
